Hoverfly 02:51
You should not wear dark glasses- they cloud your eyes, Your wardrobe is so classic- time stands still inside, The science of your bedroom is turning me blind, The roses in your garden are walls to hide behind La la la etc. Draw those expensive curtains, Sleep softly, softly, I'll be near, The clink of crystal glasses, The sparkle of a chandelier, Just try not to be flattered, Or strike a victim's pose, To sully my view of those exquisite sash (sash) windows! La la la etc. (Solo) Tell me what you want Tell me what you want Tell me what you want I want... Tell me what you want I want... Tell me what you really want... An emblem, an emblem! Tell me what you really want... Cavalry twill! Tell me what you really want... A grandfather clock! Tell me what you really want... Grandfather twill! You fly to buy your Wedgewood- God I would too. Venetian green-stemmed heaven was made for me and not you! Recline on velvet chaise-longue, I bet you purr, Venus on high above you- I doubt you even notice her! La la la etc.

Hydra 03:26
She’s waking up in a cupboard No cupboard is private and it hurts her so (though she cannot say no) Packing up for the witch hunt – another breakfast with granddad as he speaks the truth (and honey, don’t you dare) We’ll see your sinful body burn with scarlet sins of the best kind We’ll set your soul free forever Mum’s always in a frenzy And cross her heart, she’ll crucify her daughter (it’s right and proper) Love, love is a fire – mum, I married a soldier, did I get it wrong? (the ladder is long) Keep asking questions, darling – the answers are out of our hands We’ll be there when you’re underground Hydra, hydra, hydra – she’s a sign of the times I watch life spin around you – I know that you want more than this life is worth (and you can take it if you want it) I know you don’t believe them – you don’t have to obey them, this world ain’t black and white (you know you can fight) Leave this ugly place behind you – let wicked hearts beat without you Pack up your poison and let’s go Hydra – a family problem Hydra – with smiling blue eyes Hydra – She’s a sign of the times So here we are then – living in sin I’ll unlock the front door And the world can strike us down Let’s take whatever we deserve Hydra – with a mouthful of spiders Hydra – and heartfelt lies Hydra – She’s a sign of the times

Surf Rats 02:28

about

"Hell yeah! Isn't music fun? SINGLE OF THE MONTH" - Loud Horizon

"If there's any justice, Hoverfly will remind people why music was invented" -isthismusic?

"Electro-punk dancefloor fun... makes any other band look boring" -Neon Buzz

"Catchy as hell... an explosion in a paint factory. In 3D. With surround sound"-Soundsxp

"The best fun in ages, and a band with more sparks of imagination than most." - Manchester Music

Another slice of fizzy lo-fi synthpop punk from the ever good Inconsolables. A rampage of pop and fast firey fun. - Organ Magazine

Rough Trade say:
"Second single from the hyperactive north london sextet combines dashes of Devo and Dick Dale with Mike Leigh's 'Abigail's Party'. The opening bars of bleepy synths on 'Hoverfly' suggest you're in Super Mario Land and then suddenly you're on some conveyor belt ride through a riot of noise: first it's the crashing boy-sung electro-punk verses and then there's the ultra poppy girly choruses of 'la-la-las'. If you're one of these people with synaesthesia, where you see music as colours, you'll be hearing an explosion in a paint factory - in 3d, with surround sound. There's a double b-side offering value for money; 'Hydra' is like a hyperactive Pulp, if someone had laced Jarvis' Coco Pops with amphetamines, while the terrific instrumental 'Surf Rats' sounds like Ennio Morricone conducting Dick Dale."
